I choose to celebrate life as a BIKER. More so during this hard time when we have lost a few of our brothers on our dear roads.
And to start it off let me demystify the biking society of Kenya. Where we are under the umbrella of Motorcycle kenya under the leadership of PST. Nick Kiplangat. Since we are bikers from all parts of Kenya, for ease of knowing each other we are in groups called Nyumba kumi’s (mainly demarcated by the main roads. e.g Thika rd NK, mombasa rd NK) which makes easy for us for know each other and also in case of an emergency, you have the closest people in your area to respond to.
We still have other smaller groups among ourselves. These are mostly based of the type of bike, job, interest and so on and so forth.. Just the same way you all have whatsapp groups for no apparent reason. Lol
Terms of references.
CAGERS…… Passengers, drivers or anyone travelling in a car. (You definately are in a metal cage, unless its a convertible.. hahahhaaaaa
YOUR TOMATOES/NYANYE….. Reference used esp when you say something silly. (I have no idea where it came from but it always sounds funny)
BRAAAP…….. to ride. ( comes from the sound made from a bike..)
So let me start by abit of showing off.
Now these 2 bikes are my ” when i grow and i refuse to let go of riding”. They will allow me to sit and enjoy as the air brushes my locks. And i will be definately have a 1200cc so that one in a while i can teach the young hot blooded youth of that time what riding is all about.
Below is what most guys will enjoy riding.
And i call them good for eyes very bad for my heart. Reason been, when you get to gear 3, it demands for speed. Sweet dear speed i tell you.
And like most of you already know, this month of JUNE 2016, has been a tough one especially to the biking community. And on the 11th of June 2016 we said farewell to one of our dear Brother ALEX MUMO.
I chose to cover the biking family angle since i was not the official photographer.
I didn’t get a chance to take photos of everyone so msinikill. still got lots of love to all the bikers.
Some of us chose to cage while some chose to braap. 1st stop from nairobi was at the Montezuma mortuary in Machakos.
Currently saving and to get a dual sport bike / an off road. And if you feel philanthropic enough. you can donate towards the cause 🙂
I could also take a Bmw 1200 cc though thats too much power currently. or the Ktm 990 shakie if you are reading this.
Please cagers, take note of how organised we are while braaping, we stick to our lane and in a single line. And just incase you are not a biker, please take time to see how and what is called gearing up for a ride.
Reflective jackets & helmet…
So the journey took us from machakos town to tawa. Only a rider/ racer can understand the feeling of having a bike on twisties ( road curving) and along the way we did make a few stops.
This was by the permission of the traffic police escort. msianze ati oooh, overlapping manenoz,,, nyenye nyeee.
And just incase you are asking, yes even bikers do put on the L sign…
The bikers were lead by the Nairobi school music club. sweet melody to the ear i tell you. especially if you enjoy live music.
And finally the hearse arrived after the bikers had done there farewell salute.
If you thought you loved photos you have never met bikers…. Lol….
yes and they also photo boom just like the rest of you. …..
